- Most are volcanic in origin; some are due to meteoritic impacts.
As in the case of Mercury, all the craters are due to meteoritic impacts.
Because meteorites cannot survive passing through the atmosphere of Venus, all craters must be volcanic.
Venus has very few craters and their origin is not known.

- It is strange, I had a dream last night that everyone was talking about the news about Mercury and Venus colliding and becoming one planet. I dont recall anything occuring during the day(or even saying the words Mercury and Venus) that would make me dream this. But all the same, what would happen if these two were to collide, and is it possible? In the dream they collided because it was an inevitablitily where Mercury’s rotation around the sun eventually brought about their collision.

- Would Venus still be too cold for life or would that atmosphere that’s 100 times as thick as earths, trap enough heat to be suitable for life?
The reason Venus is hotter than Mercury is because of the green house affect. Would Mars with an atmosphere 1% as thick as Earths and an albedo that’s half of earths be cool enough to be suitable for life?
Would both Venus and Mars contain liquid water in this reverse scenario?
I guess I should have mentioned before that both Mars and Venus once contained liquid water.
